| Real Estate Potential in Pakistan |
| |
According to State Bank’s Annual Report 2005, investment in the construction and real estate sector increased substantially during financial year 2005 for the second year in succession. This sustained increase shows an exceptional rise in private investment easily offsetting a small dip in public investment. |
| |
To be precise, the private investments increased by around 20% over FY 2004 while public investment decreased by around 4% during the same period. While the public sector investment in construction and housing is increasing due to higher allocations of PSDP (Public Sector Development Programmes), private sector too is keeping pace with it. |
| |
The increase and strength of private sector investment in the last three years and in foreseeable future can be assigned to following reasons/factors: |
| |
| Rising incomes almost across at segments of the society. |
| |
| Greater and easy availability of institutional credit for construction of projects of all nature. |
| |
| The visible real estate boom across Pakistan especially in Karachi, Lahore and the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. |
